NARRATIVE: Today was definitely Friday the 13th. I fell multiple times. Most of the day was a steep downhill in a rocky former stream bed. My balance was out of control ... due to jetlag? Fatigue? I barely made it to Monistrol. I felt like the Swiss runner during the Olymics who staggered across the finish line with a seized up body at a snail's pace.
I decided to quit there and try to get a taxi to my gite. Fortunately, there was a couple from Quebec who, as it turned out, had already phoned the owner if the same gite to come get them. So, we all rode together. Lucky break. The owner told us that last week there were 2 helicopter rescues on that same part... nothing life threatening, but sprains or maybe broken bones. It was a tough day. Hoping that tomorrow will be better. I am not making a reservation, which I hope is not a mistake. I just am feeling unsure about the distance I can do. I'm feeling sore and maybe bruised on my back.
Yikes! La bete de Gevaudan
My gite tonight. Not sure why it's posting upside-down.
It looks like you are not the only one having problems, good thing is that it is not going to be like that the entire walk. It looks very wet and cloudy. I am so happy for you that you are there. Have fun my love. we miss you but are happy for you.
ReplyDeleteThere was a problem with the system, so I had to rewrite the comment. I said that it looks very wet and cloudy and that it will not be like that the entire walk. also, that we miss you but are happy for you.
